Award season is usually hit or miss for me. You know, not really set about watching a full two hours of the “beautiful people” of the world sitting together in all their beautiful beauty. However, I did watch the entire oscars and found it quite entertaining. Although I missed the opening number by Neil Patrick Harris (I watched it here today), the rest of the show was beautiful. I loved the sparkling arch across the stage that would change color with the mood. The dance about the middle of the show displaying the nominees for best original score was a awesome to watch. Of course I was focusing on the women in the audience, as, although the do look handsome, men in tuxedos look all very much the same.
Reoccurring themes for the gowns were, ruffles, sparkles, one shoulder draping and fitted. Looking around this morning for pictures of actresses most put together, I gathered these photos at instyle.com. So here are my pics for classic beauty at the 2010 oscars:
Julianne Moore looks very classic in a fitted sparkly gown – love the lip color and accent emerald ring.
Kristen Stewart often seems insecure, but at this event she looked happy, secure and knowing she looked elegant. Only thoughts – maybe a little more jewelry.
Maggie Gyllenhaal seems to have a secret to being happy – she always seems to be. Patterns are often difficult to pull off but she completely did. I love the watercolor feel of her dress and the makeup just rocks with it.
Vera Farmiga had a complete look. The dress took a minute to grow on me but it did and the way she pulled it together with her hairstyle and makeup was perfect. I think it suits her.

No TV here, but I did catch the looks online – so fun!
I actually like Cameron Diaz (shocking as she usually shows up to these things looking like she has not washer her hair in a week), Penélope Cruz was stunning, I thought Kristen looked great and she actually almost cracked a smile, Rachael McAdams looked fresh and beautiful, Charlise Theron looked like she had pale purple cinnamon rolls grabbing her boobs, Miley Cyrus needed to stand up straight and her top was too small, Sarah Jessica looked horrid (her hair!), I did not like Maggie’s dress the pattern was bleh and it needed to be ironed.
