So, what is an image consultant?\u00a0 If you ask my son what I do, he will tell you I do \u201cstupid makeup\u201d.\u00a0 Well, I like to think, I am more than my son may appreciate at his observant age of seven.\u00a0 Yes, I do makeup–though I don\u2019t think it is stupid.\u00a0 That is a matter of opinion and it never works to argue over differing views.\u00a0 So, for those who may be open to mine: my job is about my opinion, on makeup, clothes, and attitude.\u00a0 We all seen the image consultants on TV\u2014well, I am different. For the next few weeks I will post on how I am different.\u00a0 Besides the obvious one: I have no TV show.<\/p>\n Makeover TV shows often ambush the potential victim\/ receiver of their expertise.<\/p>\n How am I different? \u00a0I have never jumped out on someone, with a camera in tow.\u00a0 That time in high school doesn\u2019t count, I mean professionally I have never gone up to someone, and said, \u201cWhoa lady, you need help! Let\u2019s go get to work, it is going to take a lot!\u201d or any other demoralizing statement.<\/p>\n I will show you how beauty has more to do with what is inside than outside.\u00a0 Ripping a person apart internally is just wrong.\u00a0 This point is at the core of my business and personal perspective.<\/p>\n I was that girl; the one who had simply no idea. \u00a0There were enough people around me telling how unattractive I was.\u00a0 It hurt.\u00a0 It ripped inside.\u00a0 I lived with me, in my head and I know what happened in there.\u00a0 Acting like I didn\u2019t care, pretending I didn\u2019t hear it– but the worst part was I believed it.\u00a0 And those judgements and views of others molded my perception of me.\u00a0 When I do speeches I talk more on this, but for here, and the world wide web, these are things I share face to face.\u00a0 Simply said, each of us are beautiful.\u00a0 Each made by a creator, God.\u00a0 And as the saying goes, \u2018God makes no junk.\u2019 It is we who pollute the beauty, by the perceptions we adopt.\u00a0 The great thing about perceptions is they can be changed.<\/p>\n Besides my family, the thing I am most proud of, is learning to root out those destructive, negative and demoralizing statements, from my own soul.\u00a0 As I got better at this, I was able to see beauty in others and in myself.\u00a0 How could I ever work with a client and mock her behind her back or to her face?\u00a0 It may make me unique in the world of image consultants that I do really see each of us as beautiful, before the experts descend.\u00a0 It may make me different, but I would rather stand alone than with the criticizing crowd. \u00a0To criticize others is easy.<\/p>\n For the last nine years, my philosophy has worked effectively in my profession.\u00a0 If I could make more money mocking, then that is the day that I would agree with my son, it would be \u201cstupid makeup\u201d.\u00a0 \u00a0My favorite client is the woman who says, \u201cNo, I am not worth it.\u201d or \u201cI don\u2019t have time to take on me\u2026\u201d \u00a0I smile, because seeing the beauty which is already in her, is very simple.\u00a0 We just have to start– not changing everything about how we look, makeup, hair, clothes, body language.\u00a0 Start with changing your mind. Great thing about that is it\u2019s free.\u00a0 The other stuff is just on the outside.<\/p>\n We will work with both sides, starting with makeup. \u00a0Then, if you want, we go to clothes.\u00a0 My goal?
